Hamster CagedCage furniture such as branches or twigs may be added but overall they are rarely used. Cages should at least be 20 square inches of floor area per hamster, and a cage height of at least 6 inches. Since hamsters like to sleep during the day and are up all night you may want to keep the hamster cage in a living room or den rather than a bedroom so the night time noise is not bothersome.
You need to have a sleeping area and correct bedding for your hamster. If you have the wrong bedding and your hamster eats it, it could be fatal for your hamster. Bedding must be clean, non toxic, absorbent, relatively dust-free and easy to replace. The most popular bedding choices is wood shavings.
Hamster bedding materials made of fluffy cotton cloth are extremely dangerous, as they can tangle around the hamster's neck and limbs as well as pose a choking hazard.
Cage Cleaning
You need to clean your hamsters cage at least once a week and use a very light soap solution. Make sure you rinse the cage out really good because you don't want to leave any soap on the cage. Cage trains them to a certain area. If for some reason sand doesn't work for you, you can still make use of the hamster's natural tendency to use the same area in their cage over and over.
Clean the manure from around the manger. Wipe the sweat out of his eyes. Clean that area well.
Watching your hamster run around his cage can give you many hours of excitement, but do you ever wonder what he up to. Is he just playing does it represent something else?
Pet hamsters play an important role in the lives of those to choose to become petting owners. Pet hamsters make your home a happy place with their playful spirits and their friendly noises. Pet hamsters have become part of the family.
Hamster Feeds
Provide your hamsters with something to chew. You need to have a shallow food bowl made of ceramic or porcelain. In the morning, you want to remove the leftover food that is still in its dish. Your hamster needs equal amounts of daylight and darkness. This means it is best to give him 12 of daylight and 12 hours of night. Also you can give the hamster a toilet paper roll to play with as most hamsters like tubes.
You can give your hamster a store bought hamster-food mix once or twice a day. Supply a small quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables year-round. When you are feeding your hamster, you want to make sure you feed your hamster at the same time every day or make sure he can eat all day long. You can not overfeed a hamster because they like to hide food for later.
All these should be fed in small amounts and only as a treat, too much green stuff can give them the runs.
Also if a completely dry diet is offered constipation may become a problem. If the problem is mild your hamster may respond to have some green vegetables or small quantity of fruit added to his food.
